In the last few years we’ve seen a growing trend away from consumer culture and towards artisan items. As a creator of handmade objects I’m obviously a little biased but let me outline some of the reasons why I truely believe handmade jewellery is best:

And each handmade product has one to tell, it is the result of countless hours of consideration and hard work. When asked where I bought my earrings I love to share their story, where they came from, how they were made, the inspiration that led to their creation. Each piece is infused with the skill of its maker and the magic of their imagination.
2. It’s Ethical and Sustainable
Hand made jewellery is not mass produced and usually not made in a factory. In fact, most handmade jewellery is created in small craft studios and in people’s homes. This results in fewer carbon emissions, less waste and more equitable labour costs. You know that the money you spend will go straight to the maker.

Each piece of handmade jewellery is completely unique and one of a kind, just like you! The maker might have produced several that look similar but each piece is made by hand, showing the skill, technical ability, and sometimes even the fingerprints of the craftsperson.
4. You’re supporting real people
Makers are skilled artisans who are passionate about their products. When you buy handmade jewellery you’re directly supporting the craft skill they practice and the time they’ve invested in it.
5. Quality
Smaller scale production almost always equates to higher quality. A great deal of personal attention goes into the production of every single piece. Handmade jewellery is made with love and made to last.
